The game begins with you cremating Joker and follows with a nightmare prologue of scarecrow's toxin. There are occasional pop-up/jump scares from Joker, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, and some others meant to catch you off guard. All have very lethal/dangerous missions/battles. The joker toxin victims and their parts are kinda creepy and darker parts of the game. There are two instances of suicide, one fake attempt and one successful by a deranged man. Other important things to note are flashbacks including Joker paralyzing Batgirl and Jason Todd being beaten and tortured by him. His entire play is on murdering and dissembling victims and cutting off limbs, etc. The reason it is M is because of a side mission featuring a bloody victim in Professor Pyg's fight. Despite all that I still think this game doesn't deserve the fabled M-rating and should probably get the teen treatment instead. While Sex isn't prominent in the game there is some characters who wear revealing clothing. Swearing is also prominent in the game with Sh-t, b-itch, and a-hole all commonly used. A fair amount of blood is included in some scenes, though not usually in combat. (Punching, kicking gagging, throwing, headbutting, blowing up criminals with "explosive gel" Throwing Batarangs, and shooting them down with the Batmobile are only a couple of examples.) Players are rewarded with special combos and tools to take down criminals in even more violent ways than before.

It really depends on what your limits are to violence and swearing.(these 2 things very prominent in this game) Batman often beats up criminals in ways only Batman-themed games can give you. First of all buy this game it is REALLYYYYYYY awesome and I loved the whole experience! There is tons of profanity and violence to watch out for so be care full when considering giving it to kids.
